Aerial infrared roof moisture surveys combine todays top infrared technology, the FLIR (Forward Looking
Infrared) camera with HOT/SHOTs proven expertise to make the 20 year roof guarantee a reality!
The FLIR systems extreme sensitivity allows HOT/SHOT to conclusively pinpoint areas of hidden suspected
moisture. The FLIR is helicopter mounted, providing an aerial inspection that is performed quickly, safely and
economically.
Since statistics show that 3 out of 10 new roofs start to leak within the first year, this invaluable service can
prevent problems from occurring right from the onset. Often, this information can demonstrate how a roof can be
restored rather than replaced.
Infrared surveys are performed after sunset following a clear, sunny day. During the daytime, a roof system is
heated by absorbing the suns infrared energy. After sunset, the roof begins to cool off, releasing this energy while
areas of entrapped moisture retain the thermal energy that has been absorbed. The result of the survey is a clear
video picture indicating areas of suspected moisture as white (hot), and dryer areas as black(cold).
To achieve greater accuracy, HOT/SHOT routinely verifies areas of suspected moisture with other nondestructive
instruments. The use of capacitance meters and/or nuclear devices provide correlated information that can be used
to confirm suspected entrapped moisture.
HOT/SHOTs exclusive CAD/IRtm program provides you with a scaled map of your roof with the infrared findings
superimposed, pinpointing all areas of suspected moisture and the relative moisture content within. You receive
the video tape of the aerial inspection along with individual thermograms, still photographs of the survey, which
indicate the specific location of suspected moisture and a color plotted CAD/IRtm map. This complete overview of
your roofs integrity allows you to make appropriate decisions regarding the repair and/or replacement of your
roof and formulate long term budget plans.
The FLIR system and HOT/SHOTs exclusive reporting abilities guarantee you a total independent roof
consultation service.
